There’s literally nothing wrong with the B/X elf but I’m going to fix it anyway because I’m bored.
Elves are pure and undying. The world is decaying, and the treasure of ancient dungeons is your birthright. At least, that’s what they all say in the elven taverns.
Elves combine the abilities of Magic Users and Fighters, able to cast spells in armor and use any weapon. Elves definitely start with 1 spell and never get extra attacks.
Elf facts:
- Anyone raised by an elf becomes an elf.
- Elves can detect secret doors on 1-in-6 just by passing them.
- Elves are immune to paralysis from ghouls.
- Elves have a 2-in-6 to hear noises.
- Elves can see 60’ in starlight.
- Elves level very slowly. Probably half as fast as fighters.
All elves must roll on this table to get a matched Feat, Modifier, and bonus starting gear.

5 | Can’t touch Iron | 1 damage per round from ferrous metal | Free elf-plate armor, made of bug carapace or something |
6 | Airhead | Instead of brain there is magic smoke. | None- but you never need to sleep. No chance of recovery from death except for Wish spell. |
Your bonus starting gear is custom made, semi-magical heirlooms and not helpful to others.
